CHUKWA
Branding: Cocoa husk infusion
CHUKWA is an indulgent and all-natural cocoa husk infusion. CHUKWA sources all cocoa husks from premium Belgian bean-to-bar chocolatiers, ensuring top quality. Discovered by the ancient Mayas, cocoa husk drinks have been part of century-old spiritual ceremonies for their uplifting and nourishing effects. In Mayan, chocolate translates to ‘chukwa’.

Maya script uses glyphs to express meaning or sounds, which are arranged in a grid to write words and phrases. CHUKWA’s logo is a stylized version of these ancient glyphs, representing how a modern Maya would write the word chocolate.
In Maya culture, Maya blue has a mythical status: ‘azul maya’ is a dramatic and distinctive blue color, mainly used by the ancient Mayas in ritual offerings, murals and pottery. Maya blue is associated with the center of a flame: holding the most heat, the blue pigment is considered precious. It’s no coincidence that the packaging of CHUKWA original is Maya blue.
The Mayas used a wide color palette, but only five colour glyphs have been deciphered. Besides blue (yax), we have white (sak), yellow (k’an), red (chak) and black (ik’). That’s why we’ve associated our different flavors with these colors.
White is used for coconut, yellow for chai and red for chili. For black… stay tuned! Each flavor also has a unique logo, being a stylized version of the glyph for yax, sak, k’an, chak and ik’.
