Branding: Researching media in a society in transition
There is sometimes talk of the post-truth society in which there is a battle for the truth, but in which social fault lines also deepen and the polarization in the areas of migration, the environment, the organization of the market economy, etc. intensifies. Media do not always deal with this properly.
The role of the public broadcaster, many argue, is becoming more important in a society in transition. There is a need for more fundamental research into the social context in which the public broadcaster operates, the changed media use in function of technological evolutions and the changed media market and the evolutions in media policy. The 'Leerstoel Media in een samenleving in Transitie' has the ambition to conduct and strengthen precisely this research.
This branding is based on a chair as a carrier. This ‘supporting’ is thus literally visualized. The idea is that of openness; a chair is not a delineated framework in which everything must be colored within predefined lines, but where a foundation is laid on which to build, in all directions.
All this is combined with a visual language of connection, and gradients that depict the transition and shifting back and forth.
